About Us

Located in the heart of Darwen, Lancashire, DARE (Darwen Asylum Seeker Refugee Enterprise) is a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting and integrating refugees and asylum seekers into life in the UK. We operate from the Central United Reformed Church on Duckworth Street, providing a safe and welcoming space for those in need.

Our Vision

​At DARE, we envision a community where all refugees and asylum seekers receive just, respectful, and supportive treatment tailored to their needs. We strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can rebuild their lives with dignity and respect.

Mission

​Our mission is to enhance the lives of refugees and asylum seekers through comprehensive support and advice. We promote awareness and facilitate self-sufficiency and integration within the community, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

What We Do

​Case Work
  • When: Mondays, 10 am to 1 pm
  • Where: Central United Reformed Church, Duckworth Street, Darwen BB3 1AT
  • What: Personalised support to address the unique needs and challenges of refugees and asylum seekers.

Drop-in and English Classes
  • When: Wednesdays
  • Where: Central United Reformed Church
  • What: A welcoming drop-in session with English classes to help improve language skills and promote integration.

Additional Support and Activities
  • Family Support: Dedicated services to assist families in settling and thriving in the community.
  • Food Provision: Ensuring that basic needs are met through our drop-in sessions.
  • Trips and Holidays: Organising outings to provide relief and enrichment.
  • Enrichment Activities: Offering various activities to enhance well-being and community involvement.

Our Aims & Objectives

  • Education and Training: Relieving financial hardship and promoting educational advancement for refugees and asylum seekers.
  • Public Awareness: Educating the public on issues related to refugees and asylum seekers to foster empathy and understanding.
  • Recreational Facilities: Providing facilities that improve the quality of life for those in need due to various hardships.
  • Health and Well-being: Protecting and enhancing the physical and mental health of refugees and asylum seekers and their families.
